Greece's attempts to form a governing coalition entered a third and final round on 09 May, with PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos becoming the latest politician to attempt to break the deadlock after elections produced no clear winner. Venizelos received a three-day mandate from the president to seek coalition partners following failed attempts by candidates from the two parties that gained the most votes in Sunday's election - the conservative New Democracy and the Coalition of the Radical Left, or SYRIZA.
