Nach Lyme-Borreliose-Diagnose: Avril Lavigne unterstützt Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber (25, "Yummy") erschütterte seine Fans auf Instagram mit einem schockierenden Geständnis: Er ist an Lyme-Borreliose erkrankt. Doch damit steht der kanadische Sänger nicht alleine da. Auch die kanadisch-französische Rock-Sängerin Avril Lavigne (35, "Sk8er Boi") leidet unter der Infektionskrankheit. Nun hat sich die 35-Jährige auf Instagram zu Biebers Diagnose geäußert.

"Es gibt zu viele Menschen, die diese lähmende Krankheit haben. Menschen, die ich liebe und die mir am Herzen liegen, und viele Freunde und Fans, denen ich begegnet bin", beginnt Lavigne ihren Post. Die Musikerin machte ihre Diagnose im April 2015 öffentlich. "Ich war wirklich krank und habe um mein Leben gekämpft. Das Schreiben von 'Head Above Water' hat mir geholfen, das Schlimmste zu überstehen, aber die schlechten Tage kommen und gehen immer noch", erklärt sie weiter.

Today @JustinBieber shared that he has Lyme disease. There are too many people that have this debilitating disease! People I love and care about and many friends and fans I have crossed paths with. To everyone affected by Lyme, I want to tell you that there is HOPE. Because Lyme is a daily struggle, for the better part of two years, I was really sick and fighting for my life. "Ich möchte nicht, dass andere so leiden"

Dazu teilte Lavigne ein Foto aus dem Musikvideo ihrer Single "Head Above Water", auf dem sie unter Wasser ihren Kopf festhält und schreit. Sie fügt hinzu, dass Lyme-Borreliose "in fast allen Bundesstaaten der USA und in jedem Land der Welt mit Ausnahme der Antarktis verbreitet" sei. "Es ist eine globale Pandemie, aber keine globale Priorität. Ich möchte nicht, dass andere so leiden, wie ich es getan habe, und aus diesem Grund ist es jetzt meine Mission, die Aufmerksamkeit auf die Krankheit zu lenken und Spenden zu sammeln, die dazu beitragen, diese lebensverändernde Krankheit auszurotten."

Anschließend verweist sie noch auf ihre eigens ins Leben gerufene Avril Lavigne Foundation, mit der sie seit ihrer Diagnose vorwiegend an Lyme-Borreliose erkrankte Menschen unterstützt.
