‘Luke Cage’ Villain Erik LaRay Harvey on His Epic Diamondback Fight Scene

Warning: If you still haven’t finished your Luke Cage binge, stop reading now.

It’s an instant classic fight scene, a brutal, beautifully choreographed and acted brawl that begins in Episode 12 of Netflix’s Luke Cage and carries over into Episode 13, the season finale. Star Erik LaRay Harvey, whose villainous Diamondback showed up midway through Season 1 to wreck his half-brother’s world, talked to Yahoo TV about the cast, the crew, and the costume — which earned the description “pimp stormtrooper” — that helped make it all possible.

“It was a real honor for me to put that costume on,” says Harvey, whose character donned the memorable yellow-and-green outfit from the comic book. “Green and yellow … it could have been purple and pink, it could have been anything, and I would have adored it.”

The actor, who also played Dunn Purnsley on Boardwalk Empire, says he was excited to play the scene from the moment he saw it in the script. “I was just like, ‘Good! I get to kick his ass.’ I’m just mad I didn’t get to finish the job,” Harvey jokes.

We’d suggest he be patient — there’s always Season 2.

Season 1 of Luke Cage is currently streaming on Netflix.
